Moving into a new year as a global collective has perhaps rarely been so profound as it was in 2021. So much has already been written, expressed and shared reflecting on the year of 2020. So much has happened that has challenged us on individual and collective levels.
Our story is not necessarily unique, but like a lot of people during this period we found comfort in exploring and expressing our creativity. Sometimes together when permitted - where we indulged in pots of chamomile and savoured the opportunity to engage with another adult human as much as we did those warm soothing cups of tea. And a lot of time of course remote or alone, finding moments after a busy day of working; being present mothers; supportive partners; coping with life in a pandemic; to start writing, researching, sketching.
Slowly and softly from April we started to imagine a business that not only played into our skills learnt from careers in the creative and advertising industries; our passion for conscious living and lived experiences as mothers; but one with a bigger sense of purpose that could support and amplify mothers and their own personal journey of motherhood. How could we create a business model that whilst of course wasn’t necessarily going to be every woman’s cup of tea, for anyone who wanted to join it warmly spoke to her on an individual level?
& Mother was borne and it’s most probably simply expressed through our strap-line: (honouring) the women she is & the mother she has become.
It’s a passion project with purpose that recognises the uniqueness, beauty, challenges and life-long journey of motherhood, which is rarely linear. We’ll be launching our lifestyle store later on in Spring and between now and then we’ll be sharing more news about our brand, our values and supporting initiatives; conversations with some of the incredible women who have inspired and motivated us this year; as well as stories from the brands we’ll be stocking.
Our ambitions don’t start and end with the curated store. Our own product range is also in development and is designed to fill in some of the niche gaps we’ve identified, offering practical and beautiful solutions to support motherhood.
We hope you’ll join us on this journey and can't wait to share more with you soon
With love
Casey & Rebecca x
